Many service members and Veterans assume they’ve exhausted their GI Bill® benefits, but you may still have eligibility available—veterans who served multiple periods of service, qualifying for both the Montgomery GI Bill® and the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, can now access benefits from both programs, up to a combined 48 months, rather than being limited to the 36 months previously. Before ruling it out, check your GI Bill® benefits eligibility here.
If you’ve fully used your Post 9/11 GI Bill® benefits, Veteran Readiness & Employment (VR&E) could be another way to fund your certifications.
PM-ProLearn is the only approved training provider that allows you to use the Post-9/11 GI Bill® to cover both training costs and exam fees for the Project Management Professional (PMP®), Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP®), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®), and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (LSSGB). Read more below to see how the GI Bill® can work for you.

My Army BenefitsSF-182 Unit or Organizational Funding:
The SF-182, Authorization, Agreement, and Certification of Training, allows federal agencies and employees to fund approved training, certifications (like PMP, Six Sigma), conferences, and courses using unit or organizational funds, acting as an obligating document for payment (often via GPC or invoice). Benefits include covering tuition, materials, and exams for skill development aligned with mission needs, boosting performance, and gaining certifications, with costs typically managed under agency limits (e.g., DoD's $25k per transaction), simplifying procurement for off-the-shelf training.
Key Benefits & Uses:
Funds Various Training: Covers tuition, materials, and exam fees for courses, certifications (PMP, CAPM, LSSGB), conferences, workshops, etc..
Streamlined Procurement: Simplifies paying for standard, off-the-shelf training, avoiding complex contracts for smaller amounts.
Performance Improvement: Develops employee skills to meet mission needs and improve individual/organizational performance.
Certifications: Enables employees to earn valuable professional certifications (e.g., Project Management, Six Sigma).
Agency-Specific Flexibility: Agencies set their own limits, often using it for small purchases (micro-purchases) up to a certain dollar threshold, notes Eric Reed Cybersecurity Training, PM-ProLearn and Graduate School USA.
How It Works:
Request: Employee submits the SF-182 for a specific course/event.
Approval: Supervisor and an authorizing official sign off, obligating funds.
Procurement: Agency pays the vendor (often via Government Purchase Card (GPC) or electronic invoice).
Completion: Employee attends training and completes the form for final certification.
Key Considerations:
Not for Equipment: Cannot be used to buy general supplies or training equipment.
Agency Policy: Always check your specific agency's policy for funding limits and procedures.
