Strategy & Leadership in the Age of AI

Vince Han is the founder and CEO of Mobile Coach and a frequent speaker at conferences such as Training Conference, DevLearn, Learning Solutions, Masie's Learning Conference, ATD ICE, and ATD TechKnowledge. He holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management. Vince is an industry thought leader for learning and learning technology with an emphasis on artificial intelligence and chatbot technology. He has founded several successful technology companies and resides in Utah.

AI-Driven Project Leadership & Implementation

Nancy Miller is AI Innovator in Residence for the North Carolina Community College System and Professor of Information Technology at Forsyth Technical Community College. She brings 10 years of industry experience and 25 years in higher education to the intersection of project leadership and artificial intelligence. She guides institution-wide AI adoption efforts spanning faculty development, curriculum design, and workforce readiness, requiring disciplined planning, stakeholder coordination, and change management. A first-generation college graduate, Nancy holds an MBA and credentials including MCSE, Server+, Project+, and Google AI certifications. She has been recognized as a Cisco Teacher of Excellence and Microsoft Certified Trainer. Nancy developed the Five-Part AI Governance Model (Communicate, Equip, Train, Govern, Partner), the PLACE rubric for AI tool selection, the GROW-R reflection protocol, and the AI Faculty Innovation Rank (AIFR) Framework for assessing organizational AI readiness at the leadership level. She has also secured and managed competitive grant funding for large-

scale technology initiatives. Nancy speaks and consults on practical AI governance and implementation strategy, offering project management audiences a grounded perspective on leading technology change in complex organizations.

April Callis-Birchmeier | 1:15 - 2:30 PM

Human + AI: Strengthening Change Leadership for Better Project Outcomes

April Callis-Birchmeier, MCMP, CCMP, PMP, ACC, CSP, was recognized with the 2024 Change Awards Lifetime Award and as one of the Top 30 Global Gurus in Organizational Culture. She is a keynote speaker and internationally known organizational change management expert who has implemented change for government, health care, higher education, and corporate clients. She served the Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP) in developing the global professional standard for change management practitioners worldwide and is CEO of Springboard Consulting, a change management consulting firm providing change implementation support and education. April is also an ACMP Qualified Education Provider and provides training and exam preparation for the Certified Change Management Professional examination. As a PMP, she provides training for PMI Training. April is the author of four books, including the bestsellers READY, Set, Change! Simplify and Accelerate Organizational Change and READY, Set, CCMP Exam Prep Guide, and frequently speaks for ACMP, SHRM, and PMI events.

Project success depends on more than delivering scope, schedule, and budget. It also depends on whether people understand the change, support it, and adopt new ways of working. Artificial intelligence gives project professionals new ways to listen, analyze, communicate, and respond, but it does not replace the human judgment and leadership required to move people through change. Participants will explore practical ways to use AI to strengthen the people side of project delivery, including stakeholder listening, communication, sponsor engagement, and translating stakeholder insight into action.

Bio: Our speaker is Chris Leonard, the de-overwhelmer of teams who are stuck, burned out, and falling behind. He uses powerful stories, real-world experiences, and the latest research to shed light on the key issues holding teams and leaders back.

Chris is the founder of No Impediments, a consulting firm that gets teams unstuck, on track, and thriving.

Abstract: AI promises efficiency and acceleration—but faster systems do not automatically create healthier teams. In this session, we explore how AI adoption can unintentionally increase cognitive load, ambiguity, and burnout. Learn how adaptive leaders align purpose, data, and team rhythms to build resilient, human-centered teams in an AI-enabled future of work.

Description: As organizations adopt AI, work accelerates, expectations rise, and teams are asked to process more, faster. Yet many people feel more overwhelmed—not less.

Why? Because AI increases output, complexity, and decision pressure—but it does not increase clarity, meaning, or human energy.

This session examines the hidden burnout risks of AI-enabled delivery and the leadership shifts required to prevent them. We will explore how adaptive leaders balance human resilience with data-driven speed, protect team focus in high-ambiguity environments, and redesign delivery rhythms to sustain performance.

Participants will leave with practical tactics to integrate AI responsibly—building stronger teams and smarter systems without sacrificing well-being.
