“Winston Salem Business 40: Building the Future”

Resident Engineer Mezak Tucker and Community Outreach consultant Karen Simon will be presenting on the current NCDOT projects on Business 40/421 and answering questions. We will have heavy hors d’oeuvres catered by Southern Revival Catering.

Mezak Tucker          

Mezak Tucker is a Resident Engineer in Division 9 for the NC Department of Transportation.  Mr. Tucker brings over 20 years of experience in construction project management and construction contract administration. He has served at various capacities while administering large scale multi-lane facilities such as Interstate 85 Yadkin River Bridge Project and currently the Resident Engineer over the Business 40 Improvement Project in Winston-Salem.  

Mezak is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of North Carolina. He gained most of his formal education while enlisted in the Naval Civil Engineer Corps. He is a graduate of Naval A and C-1 Advanced Building Schools. He is also a graduate of Highway Engineering Concepts from the Institute for Transportation Research and Education at North Carolina State University.

Karen Simon               

Karen Simon is President of Simon Resources, Inc., a professional, women-owned consulting firm established in 1996 that provides services in public involvement and outreach for transportation planning projects.  Ms. Simon brings over 30 years of experience in public involvement, working on a variety of projects that include transportation planning, transit and bicycle studies and airport master plans.  Her philosophy is inclusive of all people and one that encourages proactive public education and outreach, including the underserved and minority communities.   Her firm is socially and technologically advanced, and uses social media, focus groups, interactive web sites and newsletters to gather input and provide information.

Karen graduated with an M.B.A. from the University of Tampa, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Youngstown State University.  She is an avid cyclist and enjoys traveling with her family and spending time outdoors, especially on the slopes.
